Fishing knots you actually need

A small working set of knots covers most freshwater fishing. This page is structured for quick use on a phone at the water.

Great Miami River

Palomar knot

Best use: tying hooks, swivels and many lures directly to line. Strong, simple and especially useful with braid.

Build item: add a step-by-step original knot diagram or short looped video here.

Improved clinch knot

Best use: a familiar terminal-tackle knot for mono and fluorocarbon when the eye and line size are appropriate.

Uni knot

Best use: versatile terminal connection; easy to learn and useful across many freshwater setups.

Double uni

Best use: joining two lines, including leader-to-main-line situations.

Arbor knot

Best use: attaching line to the reel spool before filling it.

V1 framework. Final Fishooon version should add original diagrams/video, line-type notes, common mistakes and quick “use this knot when…” cards.
